Jonah Heemstra is an associate at K&L Gates' Chicago office. He is a member of the IP Litigation practice group.
Professional Background
Prior to joining K&L Gates, Jonah served as a summer associate at the firm. In this role he drafted patent applications for technologies ranging from software to automotive engine fuel injection techniques. Jonah also analyzed numerous patents, researched commercial embodiments of those patents’ claims, and prepared claim charts comparing the commercial embodiments to the patent claims in preparation for patent litigation. Jonah was also able to join senior litigators in an expert deposition conducted virtually.
Prior to joining K&L Gates, Jonah worked at an IP litigation boutique, where he researched various issues in patent, copyright, and trade secret cases. He also prepared discovery requests and responses and took part in preparing for and taking multiple depositions.
Before becoming a lawyer, Jonah worked as an engineer in the automotive and furniture industries. In this role, he created code-based models that allowed for rapid design and manufacturing of highly-customizable products.
