TRACED Act Scheduled for Senate Commerce Committee Action
Tuesday, April 2, 2019

The U.S. Senate version of the TRACED Act, S.151, is on the schedule for a full Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee markup tomorrow starting at 9:30 a.m. It is the first item on a long list of bills and nominations that the Committee will consider. As previously reported, to date fourteen (14) of the twenty-six (26) Senators on the Commerce Committee have indicated their support for the bill as introduced.

In a markup session, the Chairman Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) will give Senators on the Committee the opportunity to offer amendments to the bill for Committee consideration. The Committee would vote on any amendments during the markup and then could very well vote to report the bill out of the Committee tomorrow. The potential next step would be for the bill to be considered on the Senate floor sometime in the future. Also, as previously reported, there is a companion bill in the House, H.R. 1602, which is pending before the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
