Any lawyer knows that retooling their practice can be an uphill battle. Ailis Burpee knew this and that the leap from litigator to in-house would be an even steeper hill. In this episode of Bouncing Back, Ailis talks to Rebecca Glatzer about getting past rejection and taking risks that pushed her outside of her comfort zone.

Ailis Burpee is Mailchimp’s VP of Legal, overseeing the company’s internal legal affairs. Her team is responsible for legal compliance, employment and immigration, marketing and advertising compliance, corporate and public affairs, corporate expansion, and policy management. Prior to this role, Ailis served as the VP of Human Resources leading all of the company’s HR functions related to employee benefits and compensation, health and wellness, employee performance and rewards, employee relations, and people metrics. Ailis received her Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Tech and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia. She joined Mailchimp in 2014, having previously worked as an associate attorney focused on commercial litigation at Seyfarth Shaw and patent litigation at Robins Kaplan.
