Zainab Bhindarwala joined Katz Banks Kumin in September of 2024.
Ms. Bhindarwala received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2024. While at Michigan Law, she co-founded an organization for students interested in civil public interest work called Michigan Advocates for Civil Justice, or M-Advocates. She also held leadership positions with the Women of Color Coalition and Organization for Public Interest Students. During law school, Ms. Bhindarwala was a student-attorney in three clinics: the Workers’ Rights Clinic, Civil Rights Litigation Initiative, and Juvenile Justice Clinic. She interned at Legal Aid Chicago and a workers’ rights firm and also externed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Ms. Bhindarwala was a recipient of the 2023-2024 Student Leader of the Year award for her contributions to the public interest community at Michigan Law.
Prior to law school, Ms. Bhindarwala worked as a paralegal at a civil rights firm for two years, primarily working with incarcerated individuals. Ms. Bhindarwala is originally from Southeast Michigan and she attended the University of Michigan for undergrad where she received High Honors for her thesis on Reparations for Racism and White Supremacy in the United States.
