Samoneh (Sammy) Schickel is a Partner at McDermott Will Emery's Austin office. She guides clients through every stage of patent litigation. She has experience in a wide range of technical areas, including life sciences, data storage devices, internet technology, mobile apps, software and consumer hardware devices. She represents clients before the International Trade Commission (ITC), the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and US district courts.
Prior to attending law school, Sammy worked as a clinical researcher at a leading US teaching hospital in Boston, where she investigated the role of pharmaceutical drugs on vascular health in various conditions, including HIV, breast cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes mellitus, Marfan syndrome and peripheral artery disease. She co-authored articles that appeared in the Journal of the American Heart Association and Vascular Medicine.
While in law school, Sammy was executive articles editor for the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal. As an undergraduate at Dartmouth College, she investigated various microorganisms’ resistance to polysorbate 80 and co-authored an article that appeared in Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy.
