Matt is an associate in the Chicago, Illinois and Valparaiso, Indiana offices of Ogletree Deakins. Matt’s practice is concentrated on ERISA litigation and benefits matters. Matt also has significant experience working with multiemployer ERISA funds on issues related to contributions, audits, and withdrawal liability and has counseled employers in complying with various federal, state and local employment laws.
Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Matt served as an in-house attorney for one of the largest multiemployer health and pension funds in the country, where he litigated complex ERISA cases. He also gained valuable experience working as a post-graduate fellow in the City of Chicago’s Law Department in their Employment Litigation and Labor Divisions. Matt also has experience helping government entities and employers comply with disability access laws.
Matt graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2017. While in law school, Matt served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Paul R. Cherry in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana and an extern for the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Solicitor. Upon graduating, Matt received Notre Dame’s ABA Bloomberg Excellence Award for the study of Labor and Employment. He received his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 2014.
