Justin A. Allen

Professional Biography

Justin Allen is a skilled commercial and employment litigator in the Indianapolis office, with significant experience handling large and complex cases. Justin has represented plaintiffs and defendants in dozens of lawsuits involving claims of misappropriation of trade secrets, breaches of restrictive covenants, employee raiding, and other unfair competition claims. Justin’s national litigation experience includes cases in state and federal courts in nearly twenty jurisdictions across the country.

In addition to his unfair competition experience, Justin also frequently represents companies in a wide range of business tort and contract disputes. Justin’s employment litigation background includes defending claims arising under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other state and federal anti-discrimination statutes.

Justin devotes much of his daily practice to client counseling. As a creative problem-solver, Justin helps employers draft, defend, and navigate restrictive covenants agreements and protections for confidential information. He frequently advises employers and employees through pre-litigation disputes arising under these agreements.

Justin is an active member of the Indiana legal community. In 2018, the Indianapolis Bar Association named him the Young Lawyer of the Year for his service to the local bar. Justin is a graduate of the Indiana State Bar Association’s Leadership Development Academy, Class VII.

Justin was recognized by the Indiana Lawyer as an “Up and Coming Lawyer” in 2018. In recent years, Justin has consistently received recognition as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers and by “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch” for Commercial Litigation and Labor & Employment Law.

Justin received his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, where he graduated cum laude and served on the Washington University Law Review. Prior to law school, Justin attended Millikin University in Illinois, where he graduated with distinction.

Outside of the legal community, Justin has a passion for animal rescue and welfare. He is a member of the Friends of Indy Animals Board of Directors and an avid volunteer and supporter of Central Indiana animal shelters and rescue organizations.
