Professional Biography

Emmett is an Associate in Wiggin and Dana’s Litigation Department and a member of the firm’s Appellate, Antitrust, and White Collar Practice Groups. Emmett’s practice focuses on high-stakes appeals, multidistrict antitrust cases, and complex commercial litigation.

As a litigation associate, Emmett has been instrumental in successfully defending a nine-figure damages award on behalf of a foreign ambassador, obtaining an eight-figure judgment under the Connecticut Uniform Securities Act for a defrauded investor, and preserving a summary judgment ruling in favor of a major university in a tuition refund class action arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Emmett has also taken a lead role in representing a large generic pharmaceutical company and several real estate brokerage firms in nationwide antitrust litigation.

Emmett maintains an active pro bono practice. Working closely with a partner at the firm, Emmett convinced the government not to prosecute a Criminal Justice Act client initially charged with being an accessory after the fact to a gang-related murder. Emmett also serves as pro bono counsel to a religious organization serving Jewish students at a liberal arts college.

Prior to joining Wiggin and Dana, Emmett served as a law clerk to the Honorable William J. Nardini of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Jeffrey A. Meyer of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.

Emmett received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he cofounded the Free Exercise Clinic and coauthored two amicus briefs in religious liberty cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. Emmett received his B.A. in Classics and Comparative Literature magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead-Cain Scholar. Emmett was also captain of the Men’s Rowing Team and an Academic All-American.
