Allen F. Acosta is an associate in the Orange County, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace and labor law matters, including preventive advice and counseling and representing employers in labor negotiations and arbitrations. Allen advises clients on compliance with federal, state and local employment laws, including Family and Medical Leave Act, California Family Rights Act, Fair Employment and Housing Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, National Labor Relations Act and Americans with Disabilities Act.
Prior to practicing at Jackson Lewis, Allen defended employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation lawsuits, represented and advised employers in labor relations matters, including labor negotiations, employee discipline, and internal investigations at firms in Southern California.
Earlier in his career, Allen was an in-house attorney at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he successfully defended the agency in false arrest and excessive force lawsuits, appeals from administrative proceedings, commercial disputes, and employment discrimination actions. Allen routinely provided advice to the Port Authority’s chief security officer and the Port Authority Police Department on airport security issues, police practices, criminal investigations and labor and employment matters. Allen also served as an assistant district attorney at the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted special victims’ cases, including investigating felonies and conducting grand jury presentations.
