The Republican National Convention kicks off this Monday in Tampa Bay, Florida, as the Republicans convene to officially nominate former Gov. Mitt Romney as their party’s candidate for President of the United States. The Democratic National Convention will be September 4 – 6th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Republican convention is expected to kick off with adoption of the party’s formal platform. A non-binding document for presumed nominee Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, the platform lists the positions and principles of the party. Few details about the platform have been released
Expected speakers at the Republican convention include: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Texas Senate candidate Ted Cruz, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Arizona Senator and 2008 Presidential nominee John McCain, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and former National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice.
