Many states have taken the initiative to introduce legislation addressing the ever-growing concerns surrounding artificial intelligence.
Utah is at the forefront with a bill that is on the brink of becoming law, titled the Artificial Intelligence Policy Act.
The proposed Artificial Intelligence Policy Act addresses several key areas concerning AI usage, consumer protection, regulatory oversight, and the facilitation of further advancements in AI technology. But for this discussion, I want to highlight what is probably the most significant aspect of it—well the most significant for many of our readers.
So, once effective, there will be requirements for explicit disclosures when consumers interact with AI, among other consumer protection measures.
The bill mandates that any interaction involving generative artificial intelligence in regulated occupations (including telemarketing) must include a clear and conspicuous disclosure to the consumer that they are interacting with generative AI.
