Yesterday the FCC announced the new one-to-one rule has cleared Office of Management and Budget review in time to become effective January 27, 2025.
This was the final hurdle remaining for the rule’s implementation– and went sailing through as expected.
You can find it at: 89 FR 87982-01, 2024 WL 4680273(F.R.), 47 CFR Part 64 [CG Docket Nos. 02-278, 21-402, 17-59, FCC 23-107, FR ID 254728]
Easy right?
For the curious, the OMB predicts about 6,000 companies will be impacted by the rule and that the rule change will consumer about 8 hours of time for each company, which is absolutely hilarious. There are at least 100 times that many companies impacted by this rule–when you consider publishers, networks, lead buyers and sellers– and while some small publishers will probably spend a mere 8 hours complying, otherwise have devoted weeks (months?) of work to testing and deploying their new one-to-one regimes.
Regardless, the only thing standing in the way of the Rule’s implementation next year is R.E.A.C.H.’s efforts through the Small Business Administration. Some edits are still expected. More soon.
80 days to comply…
