Our nationally recognized practices include commercial finance, corporate, environmental, financial services, insolvency and restructuring, intellectual property, litigation, real estate, structured finance and securitization, and trusts and estates. Our approximately 650 attorneys serve public and private companies, including one-third of the Fortune 100, as well as a number of government and nonprofit organizations and individuals. We provide full-service legal advice from locations across the United States and in London and Shanghai.

We forge partnerships with our clients based on our uniquely flexible and entrepreneurial culture. Knowing the law is not enough: we understand our clients’ business objectives and address their legal needs in a manner that is consistent with the “big picture.” Our clients see us as trusted advisors and we demonstrate our value every day in the successful results we earn.

Katten is deeply committed to diversity and we are frequently honored for our diversity program. We value the talents and perspectives of our diverse teams of attorneys, building stronger solutions for our clients and a better workplace for everyone.

Through our pro bono program, our attorneys and other legal professionals give their time, resources and talent to serve individuals and organizations in need, to engage in important national litigation and to partner with local legal service providers to ensure access to the justice system. We understand that by enriching the lives of those around us, we grow as a firm and as individuals. With our Katten Cares program, we have invested millions of dollars and thousands of hours in making a positive impact on our communities through sponsorship of local community service programs and the charitable activities of our attorneys and staff.

Katten is intensely focused on ensuring that we offer the best services to our clients and, in turn, sharing our support with community organizations.

Katten Muchin & Rosenman LLP has been named a Go-To Thought Leader in the Litigation category by the National Law Review. In 2022, authors Julie L. Gottshall, Janet R. Widmaier, Andrew J. Schuyler, Stacey D. Mckee Knight, Janella T. Gholian, and Michelle A. Gyves reached thousands of industry professionals with their coverage of the US Supreme Court’s reinstatement of the OSHA employer vaccine mandate. Their timely reporting on the Court’s ruling and other local regulations in place or in peril because of the ruling provided a valuable resource to legal and business professionals.

The National Law Review names Katten as a Go-To Thought Leader for the firm’s coverage of Estate Planning & Taxes. The firm’s article, “2021 Biden Plan Estate Planning Advisory,” breaks down President Biden’s estate, gift and transfer tax plan and reviews what they mean for capital gains tax rates as well. Although estate law can be a layered area of practice, Katten’s content broke it down for our viewers in an organized and thorough manner.

Katten is a National Law Review Go-To Thought Leader for the firm’s thought leadership on the Coronavirus pandemic's impact on the aviation industry, specifically the government’s ongoing operation support for the airlines and aviation finance and leases.  Katten’s thought leadership in aviation addresses leases and financing and the insurance of aircraft assets during bankruptcies, as well as government regulation and oversight of the aviation industry including the Treasury Department’s payroll support for airline workers and special payments earmarked for the airline industry under the CARES Act. The following Katten attorney authors were notable aviation law contributors in 2020: Lisa A. ClarkTom Healey,  Stewart B. Herman, Timothy J. LynesBrett J. Seifarth, and Miran Vila.
