Professional Biography

Victor is an intellectual property attorney and registered patent attorney with a PhD in organic chemistry. He focuses his practice primarily on patent prosecution and patent portfolio management. He has extensive transactional experience assisting in the preparation of patent validity and freedom to operate opinions. He also has Hatch-Waxman litigation experience as well as experience in products liability litigation. Victor works with clients across a variety of industries, including biotechnology, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, chemical nanotechnology, and oil & gas technology.

Prior to joining Mintz, Victor was a patent attorney in the San Diego office of a San Francisco-based global law firm. Previously, he was a patent agent at two other international law firms and a patent agent and scientific advisor at a Texas-based law firm.

Victor obtained his PhD in organic chemistry at Columbia University under the guidance of Professor Samuel J. Danishefsky. He was a post-doctoral fellow under Nobel Laureate Professor E.J. Corey at Harvard University where he conducted research in analogues of the anti-tumor agent Ecteinascidin 743. Earlier in his career, Victor was an assistant professor of chemistry at Rice University where he ran an NIH-funded graduate program in synthetic organic chemistry.
