Shannon R. Clawson

Professional Biography

Shannon is an employment litigator in Ogletree Deakins’ San Francisco office. She enjoys guiding her clients through the employment law process—whether it is an investigation, deposition, court hearing, settlement, alternative dispute resolution, or trial. She partners with her clients to craft winning strategies for the single- and multi-plaintiff cases she handles, which range from matters involving claims of wrongful termination to trade secret misappropriation, disability discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and more. She represents clients in state and federal court, arbitration, and before various administrative agencies, including the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.

In addition to her litigation practice, Shannon regularly provides advice and counsel services to employers seeking guidance on compliance with federal, state, and local laws. She also advises employers on risk management and employee relations issues. Shannon develops and updates workplace policies and employee handbooks for local and multi-national employers.

Outside of the office, Shannon works as an instructor at the College of Extended Learning, San Francisco State University, where she co-teaches a survey course on employment law for HR professionals. She also serves on the board of Legal Access Alameda, the pro bono arm of the Alameda County Bar Association, which provides free legal services to low-income residents of Alameda County through monthly legal clinics.
