Oliver Roberts is the Editor-in-Chief of "AI and the Law" @ The National Law Review, the Co-Head of the AI Practice Group at Holtzman Vogel law firm, and the CEO and Founder of Wickard.ai, a legal AI startup in education and training.
Roberts also serves as Co-Director of the WashU Law AI Collaborative and an adjunct professor of law at WashU Law School, teaching courses at the intersection of artificial intelligence, policy, and law.
Roberts has designed and taught some of the most innovative AI education programs across the United States and abroad, including the nation’s first required law school AI course at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
He also designed and taught the first AI training program at Addis Ababa University School of Law in Ethiopia. His commentary on AI policy and tech development is regularly published in Bloomberg Law, The National Law Review, The Hill, and Law.com.
As a practicing attorney, Roberts represents clients in high-impact litigation. His appellate experience includes two oral arguments and two victories before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as securing a certiorari denial by the U.S. Supreme Court that preserved one of those victories. His most recent victory—Culp v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue (3d Cir. 2023)—resulted in a precedential opinion breaking from 99 years of Tax Court and appellate court precedent regarding taxpayer compliance with the 90-day deficiency petition filing deadline. His first victory in the Third Circuit overturned a Tax Court decision that imposed a six-figure tax bill on his clients. He has also advised clients in international and domestic contract disputes.
Roberts is a graduate of Harvard Law School. Prior to joining Holtzman Vogel law firm, Roberts practiced at Skadden Arps and Jones Day.
