Marie Escorneboueu

Professional Biography

Marie Escorneboueu is a member of the European Public Policy Practice in Brussels, where she primarily supports clients on EU sustainability policy and regulatory matters, with a strong focus on chemicals and circular economy-related legislations. Building on her experience within the cabinet of a judge of the European Court of Justice (ECJ), she also supports clients in litigation before the ECJ and the Board of Appeal of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in the sustainability and chemicals fields, including Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemicals (CLP) Regulation, and packaging and packaging waste.

Prior to joining the firm, Marie worked as an associate in international law firms, in which she acquired extensive experience in regulatory matters addressing various aspects of products’ life cycle, with a particular focus on REACH, the CLP Regulation, packaging, product labelling, waste, single use plastics, biocidal products and food contact materials. She also assisted clients from the chemicals industry in regulatory processes before national and EU competent authorities, including the management of applications for substance approvals and the development of defence strategies in the context of enforcement activities. Her activities also involved consortia management and data sharing negotiations.

In addition to her experience as a lawyer, Marie has also worked within a Brussels-based EU public affairs consultancy, providing day-to-day policy and strategic support in relation to chemicals and sustainability matters to members of the cosmetics, biocides, detergents and chemicals industries.
