Josh represents individuals and corporate entities across every stage of criminal defense, handling parallel civil and administrative litigation, grand jury subpoenas, multijurisdictional matters, and congressional and agency inquiries. Josh advises on the False Claims Act (FCA) and healthcare fraud, among others, from onset through settlement, trial and appeal. He represents healthcare systems and facilities in investigations conducted by federal agencies, the Indiana Attorney General, and the U.S. Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General.
Josh spent 26 years resolving federal law violations involving public corruption and public integrity, such as drug trafficking, money laundering, and firearms offenses as a U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. He led massive federal investigations and supervised significant cyber-crimes investigations and data breaches. Josh tried numerous cases before juries in the Southern District of Indiana, preparing and arguing dozens of appeals in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
While with the DOJ, Josh regularly interacted with the heads of federal agencies including, but not limited to, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations Division (IRS-CID), the Department of Health and Human Services-Office of the Inspector General (HHS-OIG), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
