Joey focuses on a wide variety of business immigration matters, including nonimmigrant work visas, intracompany transfers, immigrant visa petitions, consulate processing, and employer-sponsored legal permanent residency applications.
During the Trump administration, Joey led the team in handling Requests for Evidence (RFEs) issued by the US Citizenship and Immigration Service challenging legal matters regarding her clients’ H-1B visas. Joey developed response strategies for issues including specialty occupations, right-to-control, beneficiary qualifications, maintenance of status, availability of work, itinerary of engagements, and wage designation.
She draws upon a deep background of experience in immigration matters. Joey interned at the US Department of Homeland Security Office of the Chief Counsel, where she litigated and cross-examined respondents in removal proceedings on behalf of ICE in both Washington, DC, and Atlanta. Prior to law school, Joey served as a legal assistant for a local immigration firm, handling employment-based and family-based visas.
Joey communicates with business stakeholders on a daily basis regarding various challenges and discusses filing strategies based on current adjudication standards. Daily communication serves as a great way to build a rapport and client relationship. When clients understand the challenges and complexities of immigration matters, processes function better and instills confidence and trust in clients.
