Jamal focuses his practice in area of corporate law. He assists clients, including startups, with mergers and acquisitions by reviewing, revising and managing legal due diligence reports, drafting memoranda on the legal standards for such transactions, and preparing confidentiality agreements. Jamal also advises on the certification process for women and minority-owned businesses.
During law school, Jamal gained experience as an extern with Rolls-Royce North America worked and as a legislative intern with Faegre Baker Daniels during the Indiana General Assembly’s 2017 session. At Rolls-Royce, he worked with the company’s data privacy officer to implement new policies to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), conducted research on commercial issues and participated in contract negotiations with foreign customers.
As an undergraduate, Jamal worked as a peer educator in the Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, researching and promoting multiculturalism and increased awareness of diversity-related issues. He was also a congressional intern in the local, district office for U.S. Congressman André D. Carson (IN-7) working in constituent services.
Prior to beginning his full-time career at Barnes & Thornburg, Jamal served as a summer associate in the firm’s Indianapolis office for two summers.
Outside of his practice, Jamal is very involved in the community, particularly with causes related to education and youth mentorship in the greater Indianapolis area.
