George D. Billinson

Professional Biography

With more than 30 years of experience, George D. Billinson focuses his practice on complex energy and commodities litigation, as well as regulatory and antitrust matters. George represents and counsels electric and natural gas utilities, natural gas producers, and gas and power marketers in a range of U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) compliance and enforcement matters, including investigations, audits, and litigation. He also performs compliance assessments and helps clients develop and implement compliance programs that avoid regulatory violations.

Prior to returning to private practice in 2005, George served as a FERC enforcement attorney. In that role he led compliance investigations, provided legal support to audit staff on high-profile audits, and regularly briefed commissioners and senior staff on compliance and enforcement issues. He also participated in joint investigations with the CFTC.
