Gautam Rao is an Associate in Wiggin and Dana’s Litigation Department and is a member of the firm’s Appellate Practice Group.
Prior to joining Wiggin and Dana, Gautam was associated with Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler In New York where his practice focused on complex civil litigation and representing individuals and companies in connection with investigations and prosecutions by regulatory authorities including the SEC and FINRA.
Gautam earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he served as the Staff Editor for the Journal of Asian Law and member of the South Asian’s Law Students’ Association. He was also a James Kent Scholar and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Gautam received his B.A. in economics from Columbia University.
Following graduation from law school, Gautam clerked for the Hon. Kent A. Jordan of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Gautam also clerked for Hon. Thomas R. Lee of the Utah Supreme Court and Hon. Stephen V. Wilson of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
