Edward (EJ) Scarillo represents clients in a variety of commercial litigations, including in matters related to broker-dealers and financial industry clients before FINRA, as well as in business torts, contract disputes and consumer class actions in state and federal court.
EJ is a member of the firm’s Best Interest Compliance cross-disciplinary team, which advises Financial Services clients and prepares them for the changing regulatory landscape. He contributes to the firm's Broker-Dealer Law Blog, which provides practical insights on litigation, regulatory, compliance and fiduciary issues impacting broker-dealers.
During law school, EJ was a student attorney at Seton Hall’s Immigrants’ Rights and International Human Rights Clinic. At the clinic, he handled all aspects of an asylum claim and successfully obtained asylum for a detained refugee at a full merits hearing. EJ served as a legal extern for the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Law Division, where he researched federal and state consumer laws and drafted memoranda covering consumer fraud, corporation and transportation laws. EJ was also an intern for the Honorable Steven C. Mannion, Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He was a summer associate with Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP in 2016.
