Professional Biography

Senior Jury Consultant Aref Jabbour is focused on ensuring IMS’s attorney clients mitigate their risks during trial. He is a clinical psychologist and researcher skilled at writing probative questions for jury research exercises, including community attitude surveys, focus groups, and mock trials, that elicit the precise information attorneys need to prepare for trial. He distills the research data and provides clients with actionable strategies they can immediately employ. Aref also prepares both expert and fact witnesses to deliver understandable and effective testimony. His expertise has been called upon in hundreds of jury research exercises and trials in venues throughout the country.

A jury consultant for 15+ years, Aref applies his expertise to civil and criminal cases in the areas of product liability, patent infringement, white-collar crime, toxic tort, catastrophic injury, complex business litigation, and medical malpractice. In particular, Aref has considerable experience working on personal injury cases for gas and electric utilities across the country. Significant cases he has worked on include Oracle v. GoogleIn Re High Tech Employee Antitrust Litigation, and Motorola v. Samsung.

Aref received his PhD and MS in clinical psychology from The Pennsylvania State University. He has published and presented numerous works, including “How Jury Research Can Make a Difference,” “Choosing the Right Corporate Representative: Perspectives From a Trial Consultant,” “The Art of Storytelling,” and “Your View Into the Minds of Jurors in Utility Cases.” He has presented at AEGIS Insurance Services claims seminars, the TEAMHealth Defense Attorney Seminar, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association, the Defense Research Institute (DRI) Product Liability Seminar, the DRI Retail and Hospitality Seminar, the DRI Construction Law Seminar, the DRI Drug and Medical Device Subcommittee Meeting, the International Association of Defense Counsel Annual and Midyear meetings, and the Trial Attorneys of America Annual Meeting.

Outside of work, Aref is passionate about fitness. He is a runner and works out using kettlebells, jump rope, and functional fitness equipment. He also manages the swim meets for his three children’s swim team.
