Maryland Prohibits Workplace Vaping
Wednesday, May 29, 2024
On May 16, Maryland amended its Clean Indoor Air Act by prohibiting vaping in indoor places of employment. The amendments go into effect on July 1.

The legislation defines vaping as the use of an electronic smoking device or any device through which the user inhales tobacco, cannabis, or hemp.

Employers are required to post “No Smoking or Vaping” signs at each entrance to the workplace that is open to the public.

Employers should review their policies to ensure they prohibit vaping and determine the locations where “No Smoking or Vaping” signs should be posted.
