On July 24, 2013, the Immigration Policy Center (IPC), the research and policy branch of the American Immigration Council (AIC), released fact sheets highlighting the contributions of immigrant entrepreneurs and innovators in ten states, namely Alabama, Arkansas, California,Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina and Ohio. The organization’s research shows that immigrant entrepreneurs are playing a key role in revitalizing state economies through innovation, small business formation, urban development, and job creation. In turn, some states and localities are developing “welcoming” programs to support immigrants’ achievements and integrate newcomers into their adopted communities.
