Per a release on February 19, 2024 from the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC), the total number of copyright registrations reached 8,923,901 in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 40.46%. A total of 2,495,213 computer software copyright registrations were completed nationwide in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 35.95%. Both the number of registrations and the growth rate hit a five-year high. Non-software copyright registrations reached 6,428,277 copyrights in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 42.30%.
A total of 411 copyright pledge (loan) registrations were completed in China in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 17.43%; the number of contracts involved was 382, a year-on-year increase of 31.27%; the number of works involved was 2,082, a year-on-year increase of 36.88%. The debt amount involved was 9,958.174 million RMB.
There were 361 computer software copyright pledge registrations, a year-on-year increase of 28.01%; the number of contracts involved was 361, a year-on-year increase of 28.01%; the number of software involved was 2,032, a year-on-year increase of 39.85%; the debt amount involved was 9,171.4906 million RMB, a year-on-year increase of 148.30%.
There were 50 copyright pledge registrations for works (excluding computer software), a year-on-year decrease of 26.47%; the number of contracts involved was 21, a year-on-year increase of 133.33%; the number of works involved was 50, a year-on-year decrease of 26.47%; the principal debt amount involved was 786.6834 million RMB, a year-on-year decrease of 55.13%.
