Happy Monday or Tuesay TCPAWorld!
Well, some breaking and interesting news straight from the White House.
President Joe Biden nominated Anna Gomez, a veteran government telecom lawyer, to serve as the third Democrat at the Federal Communications Commission.
Gomez currently works at the State Department, where she serves as a senior advisor for international information and communications policy in the bureau of cyberspace and digital policy.
FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said that “Anna Gomez brings with her a wealth of telecommunications experience, a substantial record of public service, and a history of working to ensure the U.S. stays on the cutting edge of keeping us all connected.”
Gomez’s confirmation would unlock a more than two-year FCC stalemate.
If you recall, President Biden’s former pick Gigi Sohn stepped down earlier this year after her nomination had been deadlocked for over a year.
Let’s see if the confirmation hearings flow or if history will repeat itself.
Really a big disappointment, of course, since everyone was hoping the Czar would get the nod. Not sure what Biden was thinking here but let’s see how things turn our for Gomez. We’ll be digging into her background and provide more information shortly.
Til next time, Countess!!
