Amid growing concern of the use of AI tools, Congressional questioning and hearings, and the lack of regulation around its use, at least seven technology firms have signed on to follow voluntary commitments to oversee how AI technology is used. The commitments include oversight of thorny issues such as AI safety, privacy, cybersecurity, and public trust.
The seven companies signing on to the voluntary commitments are: Amazon, Anthorpic, Google, Inflection, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI. The companies have agreed to pre-test the security of AI models before they are released, research bias and privacy risks associated with the technology, and “watermarking” or labeling when content is created through the use of AI tools.
