William Gvoth is a registered US patent attorney with the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group. William advises clients on all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution. He has extensive experience representing large global companies in the electrical, mechanical, software, and business method technology areas. In particular, William has drafted and prosecuted patent applications for, among others, 5G wireless communications systems, artificial intelligence and machine learning systems, engine components and engine control systems, semiconductor lasers and optical systems, and fintech systems.
As part of his experience representing large global companies, William has managed multijurisdictional issues related to having clients and inventors located outside of the US, including working with foreign counsel to ensure compliance with local filing requirements and with foreign filing license restrictions. In addition, William has assisted clients with brainstorming sessions to identify new inventions for patent protection, has worked with clients to ensure that patent claims cover related standards or product functionality and has counseled clients on 35 U.S.C. § 101-related issues. Further, William has experience managing firm-client relationships, including conducting periodic check-ins with in-house counsel and implementing new procedures to address client feedback.
William is a member of the Intellectual Property Organization’s (IPO) Industrial Designs Committee. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced law at an intellectual property boutique law firm in Northern Virginia.
