Tom Forestier is a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group and Energy Practice Group. He served as chairperson of the firm's Diversity Committee from 2006-2010 and as the managing shareholder of the Houston office from 2010-2013. Tom is recognized for his experience in representing pipeline companies, electric utility companies, railroads, oil and gas and other energy companies, banks and other lending institutions, television stations and other media entities, condemning authorities, landowners and developers and insurance companies. He has represented local, regional, national and international clients in complex litigation in state and federal courts throughout the country in matters involving breach of contract claims, business tort claims, defamation and libel claims, invasion of privacy claims, eminent domain and condemnation.
Prior to establishing his private practice, Tom served as a briefing attorney to the Honorable James R. Nowlin, United States District Judge in the Western District of Texas, Austin Division.
Tom has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lone Star College System, and he is the 2012 recipient of the Texas Minority Counsel Program (TMCP) Trailblazer Outside Counsel of the Year Award. The State Bar of Texas and the TMCP established the Trailblazer Outside Counsel of the Year Award to recognize an outside counsel who has consistently supported the TMCP’s goals of diversity and inclusion. In 2011, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston. Tom was recognized as a 2014 Who's Who in Energy. In 2016-17, Tom served as the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Houston Club, the premier business and social club in Houston founded in 1894. He is also a past chairman of the Board of the Directors of the Houston Golf Association and the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wesley Community Center. He currently serves as General Counsel for the Houston Golf Association.
