Professional Biography

Tiffanie Ellis (she/her) is an associate in our land use practice where she represents both public and private-sector clients in a variety of land use, natural resources, and litigation matters. Prior to joining Van Ness Feldman, she worked at a California-based law firm, where she assisted public agencies, developers, and landowners in water rights disputes, litigation, administrative proceedings, and general counsel work. Tiffanie has significant experience representing clients in both state and federal compliance matters including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Prior to her experience in the private sector, Tiffanie spent two years at the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division I, which provided her with in-depth insight into what makes litigation successful and what can set litigation back. Specifically, she understands how judges review code enforcement matters, administrative appeals, and environmental litigation. She brings this knowledge into, and adapts it for, consideration and use in every piece of work she does for a client, whether it be an informal letter or a litigation brief. In addition, clients benefit from the insight gained during her time at the Department of Interior, Office of the Solicitor where she worked on oil and gas lease compliance.
