Nicollette (Shan) Alvarez practices in the area of intellectual property rights planning and execution, with an emphasis on trademark registration and prosecution before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She is experienced in global brand protection and enforcement and assists in obtaining, securing, maintaining and enforcing intellectual property rights.
Before joining Wilson Elser, Shan was a litigation associate at a mid-sized New York City firm, where she handled complex cases involving infringement and counterfeiting for luxury fashion and jewelry brands. As a media law clerk in NBCUniversal’s News Group, she dealt with First Amendment issues, including defamation, privacy and copyright, and issues arising from newsgathering.
During law school, Shan competed at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition in Vienna, Austria. The competition is ranked among the most prestigious in the world, judged by some of the world’s preeminent arbitrators, litigators, judges and international law scholars.
