Nicole Bulman is a Shareholder in the Intellectual Property Section of the firm. She has extensive experience counseling clients in the protection of intellectual property rights in the U.S., Europe, Canada, Mexico, China, Japan, Korea, Africa and South America. Her practice focuses on patent and trademark prosecution, licensing options and strategies, opinions, and intellectual property counseling in the areas of portfolio strategy and management, branding, patentability, infringement, validity, design-around, confidentiality agreements, due diligence during acquisitions, and the protection of rights in collaborative business arrangements.
Nicole has substantial experience drafting and prosecuting patents for the electrical, mechanical, computer, software, mining and materials industries. She has significant experience working with university technology transfer offices and emerging technologies.
Nicole also prepares and prosecutes trademark applications and advises clients on trademark selection, clearance, registration, enforcement, licensing and branding strategies.
In addition to being a practicing attorney, Nicole brings twelve years of international and domestic business experience developed while working for Caterpillar Inc. before law school. During that time, she developed strategic business plans and analyzed and provided recommendations for plant consolidations, technology and equipment strategies, manufacturing relocations and international and domestic sourcing decisions. Nicole worked with engineering, procurement, accounting and marketing counterparts in the United States, Europe and Japan to manage R&D programs and to develop cost reductions and synergies.
