Professional Biography

Mosby advises startups, electric utilities, infrastructure companies, and investors in the energy space. He has extensive experience advising and executing legal strategies for complex projects, business ventures, transactions, and regulatory matters. Drawing upon his knowledge of both the public and private energy sectors, he is adept at helping clients navigate legal and regulatory regimes and efficiently achieving business objectives.

Mosby’s experience prior to joining Van Ness Feldman includes working in the federal government as an Attorney-Advisor with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) Office of General Counsel, where he focused on electricity markets, rates, and tariffs. In the private sector, Mosby’s experience includes practice with an international law firm where he represented electric utilities in the organized markets, renewable energy generators, and investors.  Mosby also served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Kinder Morgan, one of North America’s largest energy infrastructure companies. At Kinder Morgan, Mosby oversaw legal services across the company’s interstate natural gas pipelines, storage facilities, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) companies. He also advised on projects and transactions across the United States and in Mexico.

Mosby is based in Houston and immersed in the region’s emerging energy transition ecosystem. He operates out of the Ion in Houston’s Innovation Corridor. The Ion brings together corporate innovators, academic partners, community partners, startups, and entrepreneurs working to address critical issues for Houston’s leading industries, including energy. He is active with the Princeton Alumni Angels and advises entrepreneurs, many of whom are members of Rice Clean Energy Accelerator, Greentown Labs, Techstars, and the Cannon, among other affiliations.

He is the Immediate Past President of the Energy Bar Association and has served on the Board of Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association, the Board of the Foundation of the Energy Law Journal, and the Steering Committee for the EBA’s Energy Insecurity Initiative.
