Michael Gwydir is a special counsel in the Financial Services Group in Cadwalader’s London office. Michael has broad experience in acting for the sponsors and managers of investments funds across the spectrum of assert classes, as well as for investors in and lenders to such funds.
Michael’s practice predominantly involves the structuring of funds that invest, and are offered, in various jurisdictions. He advises clients on the establishment, marketing and management arrangements of a wide variety of onshore and offshore funds, and has experience across a range of structures including limited partnerships, FCPs, SICAVs, limited liability partnerships, closed end corporate funds and OEICs.
To complement his fund formation practice, Michael provides ongoing support to investment vehicles and their managers, handling the legal aspects of day-to-day management issues, reconstructions, investor disputes, exits and the winding-up of funds. He also advises on the establishment of management firms, whether on a “spin-off” or start up basis, as well as on the expansion of existing businesses.
Michael also acts for institutional investors (including many development finance institutions) making investments in fund vehicles.
Michael obtained his BA and LLB from the University of Queensland. He is admitted to practice in England and Wales.
