Melissa focuses her practice on employment, healthcare, and commercial litigation. She has experience defending employers in cases involving discrimination and retaliation brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Florida Civil Rights Act, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), as well as wage-and-hour issues and class/collective actions brought under the Florida Minimum Wage Act (FMWA) and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), federal and state whistleblower claims, and various breach of contract issues in both state and federal court. Melissa also litigates complex commercial and consumer claims, including those involving misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, breach of restrictive covenants (non-compete and non-solicitation), defamation, tortious interference, and claims asserted under Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA).
