Melanie Fridgant is an associate in the Maritime Practice Group and a member of the maritime litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution team who has international regulatory and transactional experience.
Melanie’s broad practice focuses on maritime and offshore energy matters, transactional matters, and commercial litigation. Her maritime litigation experience includes personal injury claims brought under the Jones Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, vessel collision cases involving the Limitations of Liability Act, and breach of contract claims.
Aside from maritime litigation, Melanie assists clients regularly with regulatory matters and advice regarding international trade, the Jones Act, and coastwise trade laws, as well as compliance with the Federal Maritime Commission and US sanctions. She also has experience representing clients before the US Customs and Border Protection agency.
Having lived internationally in France, the United Kingdom, and Qatar, Melanie is bilingual in English-French and speaks Romanian fluently. She is also licensed in England and Wales, where she studied and worked.
