Margarita Escalante assists clients in domestic and international corporate matters and commercial transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance and compliance, with a focus on the U.S., Mexico and Latin America.

Margarita counsels clients in doing business and in limiting risk and exposure throughout the United States and Mexico, particularly with regards to structuring, establishing or acquiring operations, including overseeing tax, labor, real estate, import and export, franchising, anti-corruption, and general corporate matters.

Margarita is experienced in highly technical and regulated industries including renewable energy (portfolio acquisitions and compliance analysis), automotive and manufacturing (acquisitions, joint ventures, maquila and supply chain matters), IT and software (development, software licensing and software as a service matters), and food and beverage (including private label supply).

She also represents lenders and borrowers in domestic and international financings, including asset-based lending, cash flow, multi-currency facilities and multi-jurisdictional tranches.

As a native of Mexico, Margarita is fluent in Spanish and English. She is the first person to graduate from a joint law degree program, simultaneously earning her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and her L.E.D. from the Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in 2012
