Lauren K. Chang

Professional Biography

Lauren K. Chang is an associate in the Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental practice group in the firm's Los Angeles office.

Areas of Practice

Ms. Chang’s practice focuses on environmental and land use matters. She advises clients on a number of state and local laws, including the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”), National Environmental Policy Act (“NEPA”), State Planning and Zoning Law, and the California Public Records Act at the administrative, trial and appellate level. Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Ms. Chang worked for a firm in Los Angeles that represents only public agency clients. That experience has given her a unique perspective on CEQA compliance and informs her practice on a daily basis.

While in law school, Ms. Chang externed for the Honorable Ronald S. Prager, a San Diego County Superior Court designated CEQA judge. There, she had the opportunity to draft bench memoranda, and tentative and final rulings on parties' substantive and procedural motions, including motions for preliminary injunction under CEQA. Ms. Chang also interned at the University of San Diego School of Law's Environmental Law Clinic, where she gained CEQA litigation experience through drafting a CEQA Petition for Writ of Mandate challenging the adequacy of an EIR.
