Katerina R. Mantell

Professional Biography

Katerina represents employers in the full range of labor and employment matters. She has defended employers in state and federal courts, in arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association and JAMS, and in various administrative agencies such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the New York City Commission on Human Rights, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the New York and New Jersey Departments of Labor. In addition to her litigation practice, Katerina routinely counsels clients on employment matters that affect their business, including employee discipline and termination, policy creation and administration, wage and hour issues, restrictive covenants, employment contracts, internal investigations, and leave of absence issues. Katerina represents clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare, financial services, media and entertainment, and advertising.

Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Katerina worked at two national law firms where she counseled and represented employers and management in state and federal litigations, arbitrations, and administrative actions. She also represented employers in ERISA litigations and complex commercial disputes.

After graduating law school, Katerina was a law clerk to the Honorable Robert C. Wilson, New Jersey Superior Court, Bergen County, Civil Division, where she managed the complex commercial docket. While attending law school, Katerina received the Award of Best Brief in Appellate Advocacy and worked as a labor and employment law clerk for a national company where she was primarily responsible for responding to administrative actions filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state affiliates.
