Professional Biography

John Sulau is a member of Jackson Lewis P.C.'s ERISA Complex Litigation and Employee Benefits practice groups.  He is an associate in the firm's Greenville, South Carolina, office. John defends employers, plan sponsors, and fiduciaries in ERISA class actions.  He has represented clients of all sizes in ERISA litigation nation-wide against a broad spectrum of claims, including claims for breach of fiduciary duty, benefit claims from health and welfare and pension plans, COBRA claims, statutory penalties claims, and excessive fee claims involving 401(k) Plans.

John also advises clients on compliance issues and litigation avoidance strategies, policy drafting and implementation, drafting and enforcing noncompetition and nondisclosure agreements, conducting internal investigations, and training management.  As a member of the firm’s General Employment Litigation practice group, he regularly represents employers in proceedings before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, as well as single-plaintiff, and class action employment litigation matters.  John frequently advises clients on benefits- and employment-related issues and presents on ERISA and employment litigation topics to industry groups.

While in law school, John served as Symposium Editor of the Charlotte Law Review.  He was recognized with the Charlotte Law Leadership Award for his leadership and service to the Law Review and student body.
