Jim Kizziar is a partner with Bracewell LLP in the firm's San Antonio, Texas, and Washington, D.C. offices. Practicing law since 1978, Mr. Kizziar represents and counsels owners of diverse business entities and management on all aspects of labor and employment law. His practice includes litigation before federal and state agencies and the courts and preventive counseling of management on issues such as discrimination, harassment, union organizing, and wage-hour issues.
Mr. Kizziar conducts employment law training for executives, managers, and supervisors, is a lecturer and prolific writer on labor law issues, and previously served on the editorial board of the Texas Labor Letter. Mr. Kizziar co-authored a chapter, "Risk Management Issues in Employment" for the American Hospital Association's Risk Management Handbook for Health Care Facilities. He also co-authored a resource guide entitled, Human Resources Management: A Comprehensive Guide for Apartment Professionals, for the National Apartment Association. Jim has been recognized for his labor and employment expertise as a Texas Super Lawyer and by Best Lawyers in America.
In addition to advising clients, Jim advocates on their behalf in contested proceedings before federal and state courts and administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, U.S. Department of Labor, the National Labor Relations Board and various state and local agencies. Jim's litigation practice encompasses discrimination actions, wrongful discharge claims, employment class actions, FLSA actions, employment tort claims and constitutional law issues for church organizations. He also represents clients in union-related and employment arbitrations. As part of Jim's litigation practice, he regularly mediates employment claims settlement. Jim represents corporate entities, institutions and not-for-profit organizations in diverse industries.
