Jacob E. Aronson

Professional Biography

Jacob is a senior counsel in the San Francisco office and a member of the Land Use, Environmental, and Natural Resources practice. He counsels developers on issues arising under federal, state, and local environmental and land use laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), California Planning and Zoning Law, National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Water Act, and federal and state Endangered Species Acts. Jacob also has extensive experience defending project entitlements and private property rights in litigation.

Jacob has advised private developers and public agencies on a wide range of infrastructure and commercial real estate projects, including energy (solar, wind, battery storage, transmission), transportation (rail, transit, highway, maritime port), water resources, telecommunications, multifamily housing, retail, and hospitality/leisure.

Before joining Allen Matkins, Jacob was counsel at an international law firm. During law school, Jacob served as a clerk with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division.
