Ian Hurst is a law clerk in the Litigation Department and a member of the Life Sciences Patent Group.
During law school, Ian was a Senior Legal Writing Fellow and a member of the Patent Clinic and Appellate Litigation Clinic. He worked on all stages of patent prosecution and successfully helped clients obtain protection for technologies in the life sciences. He also drafted appellate briefs on behalf of clients and as amicus curiae, co-drafted a petition for a writ of certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court, and argued before the D.C. Circuit.
Before law school, Ian worked across many disciplines in the biomedical sciences. As an associate at a consulting firm, he helped advise some of the world’s largest global pharmaceutical companies about research and development. He also worked in a neurology lab investigating novel biologic and small-molecule therapeutics and directed clinical trials for digital health interventions.
