Professional Biography

Henry Petri draws upon his legal and technical knowledge to advise some of the world’s most innovative companies on ways to leverage and protect their intellectual property.

Henry is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on patent litigation, post-grant matters in the Patent and Trademark Office, and licensing. He is experienced in developing litigation strategy for both plaintiffs and defendants, preparing witnesses and experts for deposition and trial testimony, and conducting all phases of discovery, pretrial motion practice and trial. Henry also has extensive experience in many phases of post-grant proceedings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including reexaminations, Inter Partes Review proceedings, and Covered Business Method review proceedings. Henry also has extensive experience in appellate matters, including each phase of appeal in the Patent Office to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board as well as appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. 

Henry’s technical experience includes semiconductor processing technology and circuits, chemical processes, remote sensing, data storage systems, data compression techniques, as well as software related technology. From 1989 to 1991, he served as the law clerk for Judge Marion T. Bennett, Senior Circuit Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Henry is a former member of the Board of Governors and Chair of the Rules Committee of the Federal Circuit Bar Association. From 1999 to 2002, Henry taught the Patent litigation course as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas.
