Harshita co-heads the M&A Practice of the research and strategy driven international law firm, Nishith Desai Associates.
AREAS OF PROVEN EXPERTISE
She has extensive experience in advising clients on private equity, venture capital, joint ventures and cross border mergers and acquisitions. With background in fund formation and tax, she has been involved in some of the largest transactions and fundraises, acting for leading global private equity/venture capital funds and other institutional investors. She offers integrated and holistic advice from a legal, regulatory and cross-border tax perspective. As part of her role, she heads the Warranty & Indemnity Insurance vertical at NDA and advises a plethora of insurers globally in terms of underwriting large India focused deals. She also leads the Startup Practice of the Firm, where she represents global emerging growth technology companies throughout their lifecycle. She actively contributes to policy advocacy in terms of streamlining the regulatory framework for startups in India. As part of her policy advocacy efforts, she has been part of the SEBI committee instituted for the setup of the Innovators Growth Platform (listing platform for startups) in India.

An alumnus of the prestigious Symbiosis Law College, Pune, Harshita is a member of the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa. Harshita has served as VP-Legal to Nexus Venture Partners for the period 2015 - 2017, during which she led the fund’s India investments into the emerging tech space. She is also recognized as an Expert in Residence by the Startup Europe India Network. She is an active member of TiE, Mumbai and has been mentoring entrepreneurs in association thereof. Harshita has been an integral part of NDA over the past 14
years and is part of the management. The firm has been consistently ranked amongst the world's Most Innovative Law Firms. In fact, NDA has been the proud recipient of the award 4 times in a row (2014-2017) as the Most Innovative Indian Law Firm.

Harshita has been published in a multitude of prestigious publications in India and overseas. While not lawyering, she enjoys travelling the world, exploring new cuisines, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures.
