Professional Biography

Gretel Zumwalt* applies her focused and resolute approach to assist employers with effective and dependable solutions for their employment law challenges.

Employers value Gretel's assistance on intricate federal, state, and local employment regulations impacting all facets of the employment relationship, including hiring, promotion, discipline, and termination. She reviews and updates employee handbooks, policies, and procedures and helps navigate employers through such complex issues as workplace accommodations, leave of absence requests, wage and hour compliance, and internal investigations relating to alleged workplace misconduct, including harassment and retaliation claims.

Gretel's career began at Epstein Becker Green as a Summer Associate in the New York office in 2023, focusing on workplace harassment and discrimination claims, novel applications of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the legality of workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. During her time in law school, she interned at the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Regional Solicitor, and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Office of Administrative Law Judges. Additionally, Gretel was a member of the editorial board for the George Washington Law Review and served as a Student Ambassador for prospective and admitted students.

Prior to law school, Gretel gained experience as a research intern for a firm concentrating on clean energy.
