Professional Biography

Eric Washburn, President and CEO of Windward Strategies, is a consultant for PRG. Clients look to Eric for seasoned expertise stemming from a career in key leadership posts on Capitol Hill, including stints as legislative director for Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, senior advisor to Majority Leader Harry Reid, and Democratic Staff Director for the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Eric is neither an employee for Bracewell LLP nor of the Policy Resolution Group, but he collaborates with us on client matters relating to energy, natural resources, international trade and a wide range of other issues.

Eric joined PRG in 2014 after ten years working in senior positions at two government relations firms where he advised clients on a variety of natural resources and energy issues. He has also worked on a number of Democratic presidential campaigns, assisting in outreach to sportsmen.

Prior to joining the private sector, Eric worked for ten years in the U.S. Senate. He served in various capacities for Majority Leader Tom Daschle, including as Legislative Assistant, Legislative Director and Senior Policy Advisor. He wrote the first Renewable Fuel Standard legislation while working for Majority Leader Daschle and oversaw the development and Senate passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2002. Eric also led the development of Senate Democratic Caucus strategy on a range of environment and energy issues, including tax policy, oil and gas production, biofuels, regulatory reform, clean air, endangered species and global climate change. He previously worked for Senator Harry Reid as the Democratic Staff Director for the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee.
