Ed Rice views legal issues and challenges from the client perspective, and understands that the ultimate purpose of all legal work is to meet client business objectives. Ed’s insights on client service come from his significant and diverse in-house counsel experience, including stints as General Counsel to a cutting edge fintech company in Montana, senior level legal positions in large banking institutions, and his many years in private practice counselling a diverse portfolio of financial services, fintech, technology and industrial clients. Ed’s clients view him as their partner and an extension of their C-Suite. His clients appreciate his practicality, his ability to distill complex problems into workable solutions, and his business savvy.

Ed’s practice is a unique blend of representing clients in areas encompassing financial services (including fintech), privacy and data security, and technology. Prior to law school, Ed worked as an engineer and he brings that discipline to the mix to help clients brainstorm, develop, and implement new products and services, negotiate a myriad of transactions supporting the clients’ businesses, and analyze and solve complex legal problems.  For his financial services clients, Ed has deep experience in e-commerce, federal and multi-state regulatory compliance, retail and consumer banking, and consumer-facing fintech.  Beyond financial services, Ed also has a robust privacy and data security focus helping clients to develop comprehensive data security programs and providing guidance in the event of a data breach.
